Visitor Regulations

1. General Provisions

1.1. These regulations are mandatory and aimed at ensuring order and safety when visiting the museums of Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve (hereinafter - Museum-Reserve), improving visitor services.
1.2. The regulations are developed in accordance with the Civil Code of the Republic of Belarus and the Culture Code of the Republic of Belarus.
1.3. Currently, the Museum-Reserve includes 11 museums and a historical and cultural complex:
- Museum of the History of Architecture of Sophia Cathedral;
- Museum of Belarusian Printing;
- Museum-Library of Simeon of Polotsk;
- Museum of Local Studies;
- Art Gallery;
- Permanent exhibition "A Walk along Nizhne-Pokrovskaya Street";
- Museum of Traditional Manual Weaving of Poozerye;
- Museum of Combat Glory;
- Museum-Apartment of the Hero of the Soviet Union Z.M. Tusnolobova-Marchenko;
- Children's Museum;
- Nature and Ecology Museum;
- The historical and cultural complex "The Field of Military Glory" (Gomel Village, Polotsk Rayon).
1.4. Museums of Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve are open for visitors daily from 10.00 until 17.00 (until 18.00 from 01.06 until 31.08), except Mondays (days off). The sale of entrance tickets and guided tours stops at 16.30 (at 17.30 from 01.06 until 31.08);
1.5. Payment for all types of services is regulated in detail in the price list;
1.6. Entrance ticket сovers a single visit to the museum. For a second visit on the same day, a new entrance ticket is purchased;
1.7. Tour booking is carried out by the Tour department of the Museum-Reserve (Tour booking);
1.8. Guided tours can be either booked in advance or ordered at the site. Groups with prior booking will be accepted first.
1.9. Museum tours are conducted by the scientific staff of the Museum-Reserve only.
1.10. Museums may be closed for visitors during official events or for technical reasons.
1.11. Distribution of printed materials, advertising in the museums may be allowed only by prior agreement with the administration.
1.12. These regulations may be amended due to the circumstances leading to a change in the practice of tour services in the Museum-Reserve.

2. Regulations for visiting expositions and exhibitions of the Museum-Reserve
By purchasing an entrance ticket, visitor agrees to abide by the following regulations:

2.1. Visitors have the right to:
- visit the museums of the Museum-Reserve and use its services in accordance with museums’ working hours;
- make film recordings and photos of the museum expositions without flash by a non-professional camera within the permitted routes;
2.2. Visitors are required to:
- keep the tickets until the end of the visit of the museum and show them at the first request of the museum employees;
- comply with the order and priority;
- keep quiet, not create situations that can affect the safety of museum objects or disturb other guided groups, visitors or tour guides;
- comply with the opening hours of the museums; at the request of the museum staff, leave the museum by the closing time, as well as in case of emergency;
- immediately inform the museum staff about neglected things and objects found in the museum and not to remove them;
- comply with the lawful directions of museum staff and the security department staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to maintain public order.
Don’t leave children in your care unattended, please, ensure that they comply with the regulations in the museum. Employees have the right to terminate tours in case of non-compliance with these regulations.
2.3. Visitors aren’t allowed to:
- enter exposition and exhibition halls with backpacks and large bags, food and drinks;
- carry firearms, piercing and cutting objects, explosive, flammable, combustible objects, poisonous and corrosive substances;
- walk in with animals;
- run;
- touch objects on display and museum equipment, cross barriers or any protective areas in front of objects on open display;
- to smoke;
- be in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or other intoxication;
- use mobile communications and talk loudly;
- enter non-public areas;
- make video recordings and photography using additional equipment without the permission of the administration;
- make audio and video recording of the tour.
Visitors who refuse to comply with these regulations may be removed from the museums of the Museum-Reserve without refund of the ticket price.

3. Rights of the Museum-Reserve
Museum-reserve has the right to:
- change the opening hours with prior notification of visitors;
- refuse admission to the museums to persons in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or other intoxication;
- reduce the duration of guided tours in case of a significant increase in the tourist flow;
- close expositions or individual events during official events or for technical reasons.

4. Categories of visitors entitled to free admission to museums, to ticket purchase at reduced rates
4.1. Admission is free for:
- visitors with a disability (I-II degree);
- veterans of the Great Patriotic War;
- military servicemen;
- children under 7 years old, children left without parental care;
- visitors with special psychophysical conditions;
- a person accompanying students receiving preschool and general secondary education;
- museum staff.
4.2. Reduced rate for ticket purchase applies to schoolchildren and students on presentation of the appropriate identification.
4.3. Free admission and reduced rates are provided on presentation of the appropriate identification at the museums’ ticket office.

5. Final Provisions
5.1. Persons who violate the procedure established by these Regulations will be held liable in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus;
5.2. Persons who caused losses to the Museum-Reserve are obliged to compensate for the damage (loss or damage to property) in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
